For one, it takes impressive photographic skill to take a great photo when you are not behind the camera. And after you’ve accomplished that, you have to find an honest comfort in front of the lens, without self-consciousness, without pretense, and without fear. It is self-exploration, self-documentation, and when done well it can lead to self-discovery.
