The Vilia and Me, a Deadstock Tragedy
posted by krabbpojken on September 14th, 2008, 9 comments so far
Tags: vilia, BeLomo, and deadstockI had longed for something like the Vilia for a long time, manual controls, wickedly sharp and contrasty lens and a design that reeks of the long gone regime we all know as the Soviet Union. However, after receiving the camera itself I realized everything isn´t how you picture it to be, and getting there takes effort. Learning to know the camera is half the fun, but this was something else, this was like trying to get to know a deaf Chinese. And I don´t even speak Chinese.

Vilia – a deadstock tale by pan_dre

Tags: vilia, belomo, and ukraineAsk me and the Vilia comes pretty close to being the I-pod of Russian Camera engineering. Simple essential forms, a black plastic body with a brushed metal finish, white Cyrillic lettering – come on!

Tags: belomoThe Elikon 535 is one of my prized possessions. Didn’t order this from LSI though, I came across this little Russian camera at a flea market (sounds familiar, no?).
